The Rutland Regional Planning Commission told its Executive Finance Committee Monday that a new planner, Sean Beatty, started last week and the executive director will work reduced hours through August.
Staff reported that Sean Beatty, who interned with the commission last year, joined the staff and holds a planning degree from the University of Miami (Ohio). “He was our intern last year. He comes to us from, University of Miami at Ohio,” the executive director said.
The executive director also said she will take paternity leave and work half-time from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. through July and August, spreading four weeks of leave over eight weeks. “My plan is to be working halftime from 12 to 4 to gobble up that paternity policy,” she said, and asked that colleagues call her cell if they cannot reach her during those hours. The director said staff are handling current work and that July and August are the commission’s slowest months.
Committee members were informed this staffing change is intended to let the commission transition work from the previous planner and maintain continuity on ongoing projects, including outstanding energy planning work the new planner will help finish.
No personnel votes were taken on Monday; hiring and schedule changes were reported as operational updates.
