The City of Boulder Beverage Licensing Authority removed seven items from its July 16 agenda after licensing staff told the authority the items were not properly publicly noticed.
Licensing clerk Caitlin informed the board that “agenda items 5 through 11 of this agenda for today… were not properly publicly noticed,” and asked the authority to remove those items and reschedule them for a special hearing at least 10 days after publication.
The authority first voted to remove items 5–11 from the July 16 meeting and then voted to hold the items at a special hearing on July 30 beginning at 3 p.m. Board members present voted affirmatively on both motions (members voting aye included Chair Sherylia Roberts, Member Barnes, Member Crane and Member Haggerty).
Licensing staff told attendees who are licensees for the affected items to expect an email with details about the July 30 hearing, including when to pick up the required public posting for the hearing. Staff said they will post the special hearing date at least 10 days before that hearing, per the licensing notice requirements cited by staff.
The authority’s procedural action removed the items from consideration on July 16 but did not address the merits of any application or enforcement matter on the removed items; those matters will be considered at the special hearing on July 30.
Board members and staff emphasized they intend to hear the items as soon as the notice period allows and encouraged licensees to watch their email for follow-up from city licensing.
