The Board of Commissioners authorized the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office to enter an agreement with Excel K9 Services Inc. for training and maintenance of police canines serving both the law enforcement and corrections divisions.

County staff described the contractor rate as $110 per hour for 10 hours per session, billed biweekly; the quoted cost includes two hours of travel per session. The expense will be paid from the Sheriff’s continuing professional training account, staff said.

Commissioners approved the agreement after the usual motion and second and recorded an affirmative vote.

Less critical details: staff framed the contract as part of professional-training expenditures to maintain canine capability across divisions.
