A representative from Connections for Children spoke during public comment to make district families and staff aware of a range of local services and an upcoming inter‑district collaboration session on transitional kindergarten (TK).

Tondra Gardner, introduced by the board as representing Connections for Children, said the local resource and referral agency provides free child‑care referrals and help accessing child‑care payment assistance. She described family time “play and learning” events, parent cafés for peer support on parenting topics, and a new program to address the educational needs of 3‑ and 4‑year‑olds. Gardner said the agency will host an inter‑district collaboration session for districts to share successes and challenges related to TK and said informational packets with contact information and UPK (Universal Pre‑K) fact sheets were left for district staff.

Public comment rules: The board chair reminded speakers of the three‑minute time limit under district bylaws and the Brown Act; staff said the Brown Act prevents the board from responding to public comment on the spot.
