Wiseburn trustees were updated on a string of facilities projects that district staff said are nearing completion and would improve safety and classroom environments.
Superintendent Doctor Silvers and facilities staff described recent work including new classroom ceilings and flooring, multipurpose‑room and gym floor replacement, a renovated baseball field at Del Aire, the Da Vinci Connect play area, and upcoming signage and gate access control work. “It’s been a really professional job,” Doctor Silvers said, noting contractors had generated punch lists for final adjustments.
Safety and access control: Staff explained the district is deploying integrated access control tied to cameras and public‑address systems so administrators can better track and manage building access. “It’s a comprehensive solution … access control tied to PA systems, tied to camera systems,” a board member said. Staff demonstrated the door access controls and described multi‑factor options for weekends and after‑hours, and said most staff already have ID cards; the new system will use different cards and readers.
Classroom displays: Staff reported piloting Samsung interactive display boards in several classrooms and described them as a favorable price point and operationally solid. The superintendent said the district will evaluate furniture timelines and lead times for displays before a broad rollout and expects to return with a recommended phasing plan.
Fields and maintenance: Trustees and staff said they had walked project sites including Del Aire and Aviation and discussed potential follow‑on work such as irrigation and turf extensions to better maintain fields. Staff noted the district is evaluating whether maintenance or deferred‑maintenance budgets should cover additional field improvements and said the district may phase in user fees for community groups to help maintain fields.
Board action: The meeting record shows the board approved a set of facilities motions (items 11.1–11.3) in one vote; staff also asked for continued board direction and said contractors are finishing punch‑list items.
Ending: Board members thanked maintenance and facilities teams and asked to be updated in August with furniture and display rollout plans.
