District plans high school security system installation in late August; virtual parent meetings set

The superintendent said a new security system will be installed at the high school during the last two weeks of August and that the district will hold two virtual meetings for families.

The superintendent said the district is "planning on having the security system at the high school installed over the last 2 weeks of August." She said Mr. Fiscolo and his team will schedule two virtual question-and-answer sessions: "The first 1 on August 22 and the second on August 25, to answer any questions from our students or families that they might have on how to use the system in the process of how we're going to enter the building."

Parents and guardians will be required to acknowledge the system in the Genesis parent portal, the superintendent said, at the same time they sign into the portal for annual schedule access. The district will produce a video demonstrating entry procedures, and it anticipates allowing some leniency during the first two weeks of school while students adjust to the new process.

The board did not take a formal vote on the installation during the meeting; the superintendent described the timeline and outreach plans. District staff identified Mr. Fiscolo and his team as the points of contact for questions and said schedule and sign-up details for the virtual meetings will be sent by email.

The announcement included a timeline for opening student schedules (targeted for Aug. 22) and instructions for parents to update emergency contacts in Genesis before the school year begins.

No formal decision or ordinance was adopted at the meeting related to the security system; this item was presented as an administrative update and planned implementation.
