The Danville School District 118 Board of Education voted unanimously to appoint Reggie Warfield to fill the board vacancy created by the resignation of Pastor Thomas Miller.

Board members said they had opened the vacancy under board policy 2.7, interviewed three finalists and made a unanimous choice. The motion to appoint Warfield carried on a roll-call vote; the board then conducted the swearing-in ceremony.

Nut graf: Warfield, who the board noted is a financial adviser, a school mentor and the parent of three District 118 students, took the oath of office and pledged to “faithfully discharge the duties of the office of member of the board of education of Danville School District 118,” per the standard oath administered at the meeting.

After the oath, Warfield said, “I just wanna say thank you. I'm looking forward to it. I know it's gonna be a lot of work, but I know it's important work.” Board members offered public welcome and said they expected him to bring community perspective to the board.

Ending: The board scheduled Warfield to be active immediately; he was present for subsequent votes later in the meeting.
