Twinsburg board hires Steven J. Marlowe as interim superintendent for 2025–26 school year

The Twinsburg Board of Education voted unanimously July 16 to approve an employment agreement hiring Steven J. Marlowe as interim superintendent for the 2025–26 school year, with the contract to begin Aug. 1, 2025, and expire July 31, 2026. The board also authorized paying Marlowe for up to five days of work before Aug. 1 at his per-diem rate to assist with the transition.

The move follows a period of leadership transition in the district; the board said Marlowe previously served as Twinsburg superintendent and has continued to support districts in the region since retiring. Board leadership described Marlowe’s local ties and experience as reasons for recommending him for a one-year term while the district conducts a permanent superintendent search.

Board president (reading the recommendation) said of Marlowe, “Steve is ready to jump in, build meaningful relationships, and help foster a positive culture for both our staff and families.” The board thanked Michael Setlick, who served as interim superintendent earlier in the summer, and district staff for managing recent operational challenges while the district searched for interim leadership.

The motion to approve the employment agreement was moved by Mrs. Travis and seconded by Mrs. Davis; the roll call vote was 5–0 in favor. The board said it will work with an external agency to lead a public search for a permanent superintendent for the 2026–27 school year and intends to include staff, students, families and the broader community in that process.

Marlowe’s appointment was followed by a brief photo and congratulatory remarks from board members.

The board also approved as part of the same meeting other routine personnel and contract items listed in the meeting packet.
