County staff told commissioners the new campus clinic is near completion and that the county expects to turn the building over to the health partner "to care" on Aug. 4. Management director Mr. Weisenhoff reported this progress during the meeting and walked commissioners through recent site activity.
The update said interior flooring, doors and room signage are installed, electrical work is nearly complete and countertops and sinks are expected to arrive in time for installation. Weisenhoff said contractors have delivered a generator and that trenching for gas and fiber was under way, with Liberty Connect and Spire performing trenching and conduit work.
Why it matters: the clinic is a multi-department project on county property and its schedule affects when partner staff can begin patient services and when the county can begin post‑occupancy tasks.
County staff also recommended postponing presentation of a revised change order until next week so the auditor can sign off and staff can pursue a possible credit for excess topsoil. "I didn't get the actual numbers until late yesterday afternoon. Auditor Dent was not in the office this morning to get her signature on it, so I don't feel it's appropriate to present that to you," Weisenhoff said.
Commissioners were shown recent site photos and told that final paving and parking-area work are expected soon. Weisenhoff cautioned that there may be minor items before completion but said he did not foresee other major added costs.
The office handling utility coordination described continued work by the electrical and mechanical subcontractors to correct equipment programming and replace components that were reading 5 to 8 degrees out, which staff said had caused HVAC issues in the justice center and were now resolved.
Looking ahead, commissioners were told the county will set a grand-opening target for late September, but the internal turnover to the clinic partner is scheduled for Aug. 4, after which the partner will determine when patients are seen.
Commissioners asked to postpone a proposed change order for one week to allow final figures and signatures; staff agreed to return with the paperwork and with any offsets that may reduce the change order total.
The county did not present a final project cost at the meeting; staff said final as-builts and invoices from engineers remain outstanding.
