The Cibolo Economic Development Corporation on an evening meeting accepted staff's summary updates to the proposed fiscal year 2026 budget and directed staff to send the detailed line‑item budget to board members for review ahead of the city council review and final adoption.
"The grants increased from 75,000 to 100,000 and that's for the edge grant and the big grants," said Anna Miranda, director of finance, describing changes made since the board last reviewed a draft. Miranda also noted the strategic plan implementation line is currently shown as $75,000 "but we can increase that to $100,000 if the board would like."
Staff told the board they also added a $3,000 software subscription and removed a payment to a vendor, Sentikos, because the vendor did not meet requirements for fiscal year 2025; staff said action on that contract is planned for August. Miranda said the EDC's ending fund balance is projected "to be over $3,000,000 almost $3,100,000 for the EDC at the end of fiscal year 26," giving the corporation a "nest egg for future projects."
Board members were asked to confirm they were in agreement with the summary information rather than a detailed line‑by‑line review at the meeting. Staff said the proposed budget will be included in the city council packet for its Aug. 12 meeting and that city council adoption is planned for Sept. 9. Board members requested staff distribute the full line‑item budget by email this week and indicated they will submit any requested changes before the council adoption.
No formal resolution or final board adoption of the budget occurred at the meeting; staff characterized the action as acceptance of summary direction and asked for any line‑item feedback prior to council consideration. Board members were told line‑item adjustments can be made through adoption on Sept. 9 if needed.
