Design Review Board defers Parish Construction exterior paint and entrance redesign for 7905 Westside Parkway

Parish Construction’s proposal to repaint and add metal panels at the office building at 7905 Westside Parkway was deferred by the City of Alpharetta Design Review Board on July 18, 2025. The board voted 6-0 to ask the applicant to return with revised elevations that add more visual hierarchy and detail. Brett Schroeder, staff presenter, opened the item by describing the scope as “somewhat minor” and said the board would review paint and minor alterations only. Anna Correa, representing Parish Construction, told the board the company plans to “paint the existing brick” and to fur the entrance with metal panels and larger storefront openings for a training room that will fold open to an outdoor patio. Correa also listed the applicant color selections by name, including Mercurial (field), Sticks and Stones (cast-stone sills), Iron Ore (metal panels) and Red Gumball (canopy). Board members said the proposal felt visually “monolithic” and that the presented flat gray palette and painted facades would obscure existing brick detailing rather than emphasize architectural depth. Members suggested several alternatives—using darker base tones at the first floor, adding material accents (metal panels or a defined water table), or showing how cast stone and mullions will read in elevation. The board did not approve signage or site changes at this hearing; staff advised the applicant to coordinate any future signage submission with the final façade treatment. A motion by Board member J. Swing, seconded by D. Corkle, to defer the application pending revised elevations passed 6-0. The applicant said they would work with staff and return with renderings that explore the suggested options.
