District 41 to screen incoming kindergartners before school; kindergarten to start Sept. 2

Administrators noted the new schedule means kindergarteners will start three days later than students in grades 1–8 and encouraged families to plan for childcare during that difference. The presentation characterized the screening as a longer-term change: other nearby districts already use the model and the presenters said District 41 intends to continue the practice going forward.
