District highlights AP score gains and completion of Science of Reading training by certificated staff

Curriculum lead Tish told the board July 16 that preliminary high-school AP results show an increase in students taking Advanced Placement exams and higher performance among those students. Tish said the district saw 530 AP tests taken, an increase in the number of students scoring 3 or higher (the score commonly considered passing for college credit), and the percentage of AP students with a 3 or better rose to about 83%.
Tish also told the board that, as of June 13, all certificated staff had completed the state’s Science of Reading training mandate. She said summer professional learning continues, with teachers attending workshops and personalizing professional development ahead of the school year.
Superintendent Jeff praised the AP results and emphasized the district’s emphasis on rigorous options, including AP and College Credit Plus (CCP) coursework for high-school students. Board members and staff noted that more detailed state test results remain preliminary and will be released in September.
