Town launches MyHighlandBeach app to simplify resident requests and notifications

Town staff demonstrated the new MyHighlandBeach mobile app to the commission on July 15 and said the tool will centralize town services and two-way communications. Staff described features that let residents submit service requests with photos and a geotagged location, receive push notifications about specific incidents or events (including geofenced alerts for nearby properties), view FAQs and town contacts, and access building, library and utility portals.
Staff said requests will route automatically through the town manager's office to the appropriate department, enabling message threads between staff and the resident inside the app for status updates and resolution. The town will integrate some back-office systems (example: building permit portal, community connect for fire/rescue) and provide a staff directory with direct phone and email links. Staff said the app is designed for simplicity: registration requires only an email and phone number for those who want notifications; users may also browse anonymously for information.
Commissioners suggested in-person help sessions at the library and at condominium association meetings to help residents download and use the app, and staff said the library and staff will assist residents who need help. The town plans an email blast, website posts, printed flyers and presentations to condo associations and neighborhood groups. Staff said the app is available now in the Apple App Store and Google Play and that the town will add a web link and additional integrations as needed.
