Consultant to brief board on 60% design and cost estimate; special meeting set for late July

The board discussed upcoming design work for the wastewater treatment project and agreed to host a special meeting so American StructurePoint can brief the full board on 60% design documents, updated cost estimates and related materials. Jeff Glover of American StructurePoint circulated the materials to staff and asked to brief the board in July; staff proposed the week of July 29 and the board tentatively selected Tuesday, July 29 at 8:30 a.m. subject to room availability.

Staff said the special meeting notice will be circulated once the date and room are confirmed; special-meeting agendas are subject to limits on what can be discussed, so staff will frame the agenda broadly to cover the construction and wastewater-treatment-plan updates. Board members noted the meeting can be virtual if needed, and staff agreed to coordinate schedules with StructurePoint and circulate materials in advance.

During the same updates, board members and staff discussed the idea of adding modest office/lab/meeting space to any future regional wastewater-plant project so the district might benefit from a dedicated billing/meeting room if the larger plant proceeds. Staff said they would ask StructurePoint to include an option in design materials if feasible, but noted the district cannot pay for optional building space unless a client or grant covers that portion of design fees.
