The Town of Baton Rouge Zoning Board of Appeals on July 16 approved application 25-107 for 20 Autumn Lane in Amityville to expand a single-car garage to a two-car garage, imposing conditions that the garage contain no habitable space, no commercial work, any replaced shed be rebuilt in a conforming location, and the driveway area not exceed 40 percent of the front yard.
Applicant Eric Abney told the board he wanted a second garage bay to store vehicles for a four-car household. A zoning reviewer noted an open plumbing permit (application 148734) that must be closed; the board required the applicant and his licensed plumber to contact the plumbing department to resolve the open permit.
Board member Korquidis read proposed conditions into the record and asked the applicant whether he agreed to them; Abney said he agreed. The chairperson confirmed the conditions on the record: rebuild any shed removed in a conforming location if taken down in the future, no habitable space in the garage, no commercial work permitted in the garage, and the driveway area not to exceed 40 percent of the front yard.
On a motion and second, the board approved application 25-107 with the stated conditions. The file includes planning and environmental memos, a survey and photographs.
The applicant must resolve the open plumbing permit and obtain required building permits before starting construction.
