Claire Harden announced her resignation from the Camden County Board of Elections and Registration at the July 17 special called meeting, saying she sold her home and is relocating to Alabama. The board presented Harden with a recognition of service noting her term from April 20, 2023, to July 2025.
Chair Robin Maynard Knight thanked Harden for her service during a short presentation at the meeting. Harden said the only reason for her resignation was that she sold her home and is moving to Alabama. "I'm still a Georgia fan," she added.
During the meeting, staff and board members also reported progress on internal governance work. Election Supervisor Shannon Nettles said she, Dennis and Rock have been working on bylaw revisions following a recent work session; a copy of the proposed bylaws was placed in board binders for review before the board’s August meeting and may be considered for a vote at that meeting. The board did not vote on bylaws at the July 17 meeting.
Nettles also said the board did not complete its strategic plan during the June work session and that staff would seek an additional work session in the fall to review the strategic plan, which she said extends through the end of 2026 and contains guidelines staff and newer board members should review.
The board noted upcoming training and meeting dates: the Georgia Association of Voter Registration and Election Officials conference in Savannah, Aug. 10–13; and the board’s next regular meeting on Aug. 21, 2025, at 4 p.m. Staff asked members to check the county website’s election page as the county undertakes a website refresh and to flag items for editing.
No formal action was recorded to accept the resignation during the meeting; the board publicly thanked Harden and adjourned. The board did not announce a replacement process during this session.
