County administrator says AmeriCorps grant funds released after litigation; program faces federal budget uncertainty

Dutton told delegates the litigation "worked out well for us in our favor" but that funding beyond the near term "could determine whether or not the program survives after, next year." He said the county had about 75 applicants earlier and "at most recent count today, we had almost a 100 applicants, for the roughly 18, positions that we will end up end up granting."
Dutton said staff will watch the federal budget process closely and that the county will proceed with recruitment and planning for the next year while monitoring possible federal changes. He invited questions but none were raised that altered the update.
