Arvada council approves code cleanup to reflect new Department of Infrastructure

The Arvada City Council on July 15 approved an ordinance to update city code language following an internal reorganization that merged the Departments of Public Works and Utilities into a single Department of Infrastructure. Zachary Wilweaver, assistant city attorney, told council the measure was a technical cleanup: "The agenda item is intended to clean up sections of the code ... to make uniform references to the Department of Infrastructure and the director of infrastructure rather than the Department of Public Works and the director of public works," he said. Council member Pfeiffer moved approval on final reading; the motion passed unanimously, 7–0. The ordinance is numbered 4900 and repeals and reenacts sections 2-95 and 2-96 of the Arvada City Code to reflect the department-name changes. Why this matters: the ordinance aligns the municipal code with a recent internal reorganization so contracts, references, and staff titles in the code match current departmental structure. Council approved the change on final reading the same evening.
