"We have an estimate from the Davis company to repair that. It's about, I believe, $3,200," Denise said. She asked that the park consider covering the expense from existing capital or maintenance funds rather than asking the Friends or supporters to raise that amount.
Authority members discussed whether the needed work should be capital expenditure (CapEx) or operating expense (OpEx). One member cautioned that if the work is CapEx, internal rules restrict moving it to OpEx without appropriate procedure; Mark (treasurer/controller) noted the authority previously pledged $45,000 and that the treasury has a balance to cover tennis projects.
Denise said Davis's estimate includes excavation and shoring to ensure there is solid ground and that the repair should prevent recurrence. "The estimate includes excavating that edge of the court and shoring it up," another authority member said, adding the court had been undermined by water over several years.
No formal motion or vote occurred at the meeting; authority staff said they would review the capital budget and the tracker of pledged funds before making a funding decision.
Clarifying details: The Friends of Tennis reported an anonymous $12,000 donation intended for tennis projects; supporters' cash balances and restricted funds were reviewed separately during the meeting.
