Bradford County events staff reported on July 17 that the fourth annual Splash Bash drew about 6,500 attendees and ran without injuries, and officials outlined plans to expand ticketed events and community festivals at the county fairgrounds.
Michael Heater, who leads fairgrounds programming, said the July event featured seven giant slides, food trucks, a 12‑minute fireworks show and live music. He reported that the Tourist Development Council approved $5,500 for advertising but the fairgrounds spent $1,400, returning $4,100 for other TDC initiatives.
Heater described a schedule of fall events that will include a car show paired with a Touch‑A‑Truck for families and a model‑train display; he also said the state remote‑control airplane association asked the county to host an air‑show demonstration. Organizers said many of these events will charge admission and that the fairgrounds association is working toward generating revenue to reinvest in facilities.
Heater also credited staff and volunteers for parade planning that brought nursing‑home residents to watch the Fourth‑of‑July parade route. Commissioners praised the event and asked staff to continue building on small, revenue‑generating festivals as they plan spring fair renovations and longer‑term capital projects.
