Bradford County commissioners on July 17 approved a proposed millage rate of 10 mills for fiscal year 2025‑26 to remain on schedule with state TRIM notices and the tentative budget timetable.
County Clerk Dana presented a financial update covering the first three quarters of fiscal year 2024‑25. The general fund began the year with a fund balance of approximately $17.9 million; revenue for the first three quarters was nearly $17.0 million while expenditures totaled just over $19.0 million, producing a $2.2 million drawdown and a June 30 fund balance of about $15.7 million. If current trends continue, the clerk said the general fund balance is projected near $14.9 million by fiscal‑year end.
The fire rescue fund reported a beginning balance of $835,000, revenues (including transfers) of about $6.4 million and expenditures just over $6.0 million, producing an increase to a June 30 balance of about $1.2 million; the clerk projected roughly $1.3 million year‑end if trends hold. The road department’s fund balance began just over $1.0 million; three‑quarter activity produced a projected year‑end balance around $1.1 million.
Staff warned the board that increasing the proposed rate after tonight’s action could require the property appraiser to reprint and mail TRIM notices; commissioners therefore kept the proposed rate unchanged at 10 mills. The clerk will present a tentative budget on Aug. 5 and the board is scheduled to hold the first public budget hearing on Sept. 9.
