Lancaster County planning staff told the planning commission that the Commonwealth of Virginia is requiring updates to the county's Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act program to address coastal resiliency, and staff will present draft language for commission review at the August 2025 meeting.
"In a future meeting, probably at the next meeting in August, we will begin looking at some updates for resiliency to our Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act program," said Miss Hall, Lancaster County planning staff. She said the state provided guidance indicating the resiliency updates need to be adopted by October and that staff will move quickly to prepare language for the commission.
The commission did not take formal action on the resiliency matter during the July meeting; staff described the item as an upcoming discussion and asked commissioners to review draft language when provided. No specific ordinance text or funding amounts were presented at the July meeting.
