The Winslow School District Board of Education approved revisions to the student and staff acceptable‑use procedures during new business on July 17 after the item was pulled from the consent agenda for discussion.
A board member had asked whether the changes were new to families and how parents would be made aware; district staff said the procedures have been provided to students and staff for a long time and that the current submission was “informational for the board” and clarified and cleaned up language. Staff also said parts of the policy are required by law and parts are district practice.
After questions were answered and a brief board discussion, the board took a motion and the policy revisions were approved by voice vote.
Speakers on this item included board members who asked clarifying questions and district staff who presented the policy. The board treated the item as approval of updated procedures and not a change in core practice, according to presenters.
