Planning board adopts Peabody Master Plan Vision 2025

The Peabody Planning Board voted to adopt the city’s Master Plan Vision 2025 after staff presented minor edits to the draft and summarized two new strategies added following public outreach. Lisonbee LaFleur of Stantec, the project manager for the master plan, told the board the only substantive edits since the May draft were the addition of a strategy to pursue funding for a municipal sustainability director and an action to integrate mental‑health services into municipal facilities such as schools, libraries and the senior center. The draft had been through public open houses and received community feedback. Planning Department staff said the plan reflects community engagement and will serve as the city’s road map through 2035; staff asked the board to adopt the plan consistent with Massachusetts General Law Chapter 41, Section 81D. A board member moved to adopt the plan “with any necessary minor changes,” and the board voted unanimously in favor. Adoption makes the plan the official comprehensive plan document for the city and provides guidance for future land‑use, transportation, open space, and housing decisions; specific implementation actions will follow and will be led by community development staff and partner agencies.
