Board approves dissolution of Woodbury High School girls hockey cooperative

The South Washington County Schools board approved a request to dissolve the girls hockey cooperative hosted by Woodbury High School after assistant superintendent Christine Schafer told the board Woodbury now has enough athletes to sustain an independent program.
Schafer said the cooperative previously included New Life Academy, St. Croix Prep, Twin Cities Academy, Great River School, St. Croix Lutheran and Math and Science Academy. She said activities directors from the participating schools had signed a dissolution agreement and that Woodbury’s activities director, Jody Lobline Lecker, provided participation numbers in the board packet.
Schafer noted a contingency: if St. Croix Prep cannot find a new cooperative partner, the district will return to the board to discuss reestablishing a cooperative with St. Croix Prep. The board approved the dissolution by voice vote; the motion was made by Melinda Doles and seconded by Sharon Van Leer.
The approval allows Woodbury High School to operate its girls hockey program as an independent team for upcoming seasons.
