Mayor Pro Tem Fred Brink introduced James Frey as West Richland’s new police chief at the July 15 council meeting. Brink said Frey brings “nearly 3 decades of law enforcement experience, having most recently served as the police chief at Moscow, Idaho.”
Chief James Frey told the council he was honored by the appointment and emphasized continuity of community policing. “We will continue to have community policing at the top of our list, and we will continue to serve you with the best we can,” Frey said. He added that he intends to “help promote us into even a more professional organization than we already are.”
Acting Chief Steve Crown was recognized for his service during the recent interim. Mayor Pro Tem Brink thanked Crown for his work while the chief position was vacant.
