Northwood Cidery pledged to donate $1 for every drink sold between noon and 6 p.m. during Norwood Day, the cidery's owner said. Organizers and the owner described the donation as a way for a new local business to support the community during the event.
"We try to be active in the community," Darren, owner of Northwood Cidery, said when asked about the donation and his business's role in the event. Event volunteers and organizers thanked him and other sponsors for contributing raffle prizes and logistical support.
Organizers also thanked Mueller's Auto and other local donors for contributing prizes, and noted that donations and volunteer labor made it possible to offer free children's games and keep raffle costs focused on fundraising for scholarships and community assistance.
Organizers asked attendees to support local businesses that contributed to the day and said donations and volunteer help were essential to continuing Norwood Day in this scaled format.
