Summary
The board voted unanimously to remove a slate of policies from the district handbook, approved first reading of policy BG (school board policies) after removing it from the table, approved first reading of BIC (freedom of access training), and approved second reading of policy BB (school board legal status) as presented.
The RSU 22 School Board moved unanimously to take several actions on board policies after a policy-committee presentation. The committee asked the board to remove policy BG from the table and approve it for first reading. The board approved that motion.
The committee then recommended deleting a slate of policy sections. After an amendment to add two additional policy codes to the slate, the board approved the deletions unanimously. The slate included policy BGA, BGB, BGC, BGE, BGF, BEDF, BEDA and BEDI as recorded in the meeting minutes.
The board also approved a first reading of policy BIC, titled “freedom of access training,” following minor amendments noted by the committee. For second reading, the board approved policy listed in the packet as policy BB (described as school board legal status) without changes.
Faye, speaking for the policy committee, outlined that some deletions were housekeeping because content was duplicated elsewhere in the policy manual. “BEDI is already covered under BEDH, public participation,” she said during the discussion. Board members voted unanimously on each recorded motion.
