Rosemount outlines Leprechaun Days schedule, adds clear-bag policy and controlled entrances

Parks and Recreation Director Dan Schultz and Leprechaun Days Committee chair David Chumley told the Rosemount City Council that Leprechaun Days will run from Saturday to Saturday with a week of events and that the committee and city staff have planned music, a car show, food trucks and the traditional parade and fireworks.

David Chumley, introduced by Schultz as the committee head, said the car show will return after a successful debut last year and that about 55 cars were registered at the time of his remarks. Scheduled performers include the Belfast Cowboys on the main stage, The Good The Bad and The Funky, Northerly Gaels in the beer garden and Uncle Chunk on the amphitheater main stage. New food vendors cited were Waffle Bar and Egg Roll Queen; Fireside Bar and Grill will be the main beer-garden vendor this year.

Chumley said the committee and city staff worked with the police and fire departments to add public-safety measures: the festival will implement a clear-bag policy and will place fencing to control and limit entry points so staff can monitor bags. He said exceptions include diaper bags and medical bags; belt bags or small “fanny pack”–style bags under the posted size limit will be allowed. The city will provide clear bags at entrances for attendees who arrive with noncompliant bags.

Councilmembers and staff also reminded residents that event information is posted at leprechaundays.org and on the city’s social channels, and that staff will post weather or schedule changes. Parks and Recreation Director Dan Schultz and Councilmember Heidi Freske were acknowledged for volunteer and liaison roles.

The council approved event-related temporary street closures and additions to the city’s service agreement as part of the consent agenda. No changes to vendor permitting or alcohol licensing were made at the meeting.
