T-Mobile to upgrade generator at Barron Elementary; district says no land use or rent change

Dr. Dan Bowling, chief operations officer, told the board that under the district’s cellular contract co-locators must notify the board of equipment changes. “T-Mobile is informing Hampton City Schools of their intent to upgrade the electrical generator located beneath the Crown Castle cell tower adjacent to Barron Elementary School,” Bowling said, adding that the upgrade “does not involve any additional land use or ground acquisitions and will not result in an increase in monthly rental fees.”
The presentation was informational; no board vote or land-use permit was requested at the meeting. District staff did not describe a project schedule, contractor, or timeline during the public portion of the meeting.
