Port Orchard committee begins planning for visitor surge tied to 2026 FIFA World Cup, warns on trademark limits

Port Orchard’s Economic Development and Tourism Committee heard a planning briefing on visitor impacts from the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Seattle and discussed branding, marketing and event ideas to attract day-trip and overnight visitors while remaining within FIFA’s trademark restrictions.

The committee’s contracted public-information officer, Josh Johnson of Love Kitsap, told the group the figures presented are estimates intended to help the city plan. “A lot of this—all of this—is projections, assumptions, estimations,” Johnson said, summarizing an early modelling exercise and third‑party data sources.
