District launches planning timeline for next five-year strategic plan (2026–2031)

District administrators presented a timeline July 17 to develop the School District of Fort Atkinson’s next five-year strategic plan for 2026–2031, outlining a phased engagement process beginning this fall and extending into spring 2026.
Staff said the district will launch the process at convocation and with staff/family communications in August, conduct a districtwide survey in September to gather feedback on beliefs and guiding principles, propose updates in October, and hold facilitated in-person focus groups in November. Results will be synthesized in December, and the board will engage with a facilitator to draft potential goals in January through March. Staff intends to finalize measures and year-1 action plans in April–May so school improvement planning for 2026–27 can begin without interruption.
Administrators emphasized broad community engagement, with multiple feedback channels for staff, students, families and community members. The board requested the plan remain data- and results-driven; staff said the process will align measurement and reporting structures with the final plan. The board welcomed the timeline and asked staff for continued updates at future meetings.
