Staff reports progress on Old Town North and Business 121 corridor projects

Among Old Town North highlights staff cited additional work at the Fox Hembree Cemetery, road improvements supported by Community Development Block Grant funds, and progress on Wayne Frady Park upgrades including an approved lighting plan and enhanced entry lighting from the north. Staff said the city is advancing a community garden, creative-mix ideas on Cowan Street, branding, and a Prairie Creek Trail design.
For the Business 121 corridor, staff said bids for a monument sign have been solicited, a Valley Parkway Business Park is under construction with trail components, and the city applied for roughly $5 million in Transportation Alternatives Program funding for sidewalks and intersection improvements. Staff also reported quarterly code‑enforcement sweeps along the corridor and ongoing coordination with TxDOT and NCTCOG on lighting and safety assessments.
Staff said some work remains: gas well reclamation policy, incentives for FM 3040 frontage upgrades, a design overlay and continued investment in Creekside community projects. Staff described the update as part of twice‑per‑year implementation reporting and invited commissioner questions.
