The White House Economic Development Council approved its fiscal year 2025–26 budget Aug. 21, which projects approximately $242,000 in revenues largely from a quarter-cent sales tax and anticipates expenditures to support daily operations and strategic initiatives. Susan (Staff member, White House Economic Development Council) said the budget supports a full-time director, office rent, and subscriptions and that she requested an increase in marketing, promotions and travel to allow more training and networking. She said the increase in the advertising/marketing line is from $4,000 last year to $9,000 this year. Council members reviewed the packet, asked for clarification on where marketing and promotional items were shown in the spreadsheet, and received confirmation that advertising includes marketing materials. A motion to submit and approve the budget was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. Susan said the budget anticipates a surplus in fund balance and positions the EDC to remain proactive into the fiscal year; she noted the budget can be amended if necessary.
