The White House Economic Development Council voted Aug. 21 to approve an expenditure of about $4,000 to send staff to the Fabtech Expo in Chicago in cooperation with Encore. Susan (Staff member, White House Economic Development Council) described Fabtech as the largest event for metal forming, fabrication, welding and finishing and said attending with the Encore “Think Big Think Texas” team would expose White House to firms that might consider expansion in Texas. Susan said the attendance package from Encore includes exhibit space, promotional support and post-show contact follow-up. She also described the trip as professional development, saying she would gain trade-show experience and follow-up techniques from seasoned economic development professionals. A motion to approve the expenditure was made, seconded and approved by voice vote; the meeting record shows unanimous “Aye” but does not list individual roll-call votes. Susan said she will prepare follow-up materials and report back to the council on any leads generated from the trip.
