County finalizes boat-motor grant and secures $21,000 match for new tow vehicle

Director Matt Zoller said the tow vehicle will replace two older vehicles that maintenance crews currently use to haul the maintenance boat between Pend Oreille River, Priest Lake and Lake Pend Oreille. He and other staff described the purchase as an efficiency and safety improvement; Zoller said it should reduce fuel and staffing costs by removing a second vehicle from regular travel and limit drive time risks for crews who are often tired after full days on the water.
County staff said auditors approved the use of $10,000 from the waterways account as part of the match and that county staff will begin shopping for a new truck. County staff thanked Idaho Parks & Recreation and WIF partners for assistance securing the funds.
