Bonner County Parks & Waterways reported completed improvements at two county recreation sites. Director Matt Zoller said the county has closed out a Garfield Bay grant that funded nine new picnic tables and six new benches; he added the new furniture is ADA accessible.
Zoller also updated the committee on a project at the Cool and Swim Beach at Priest Lake, where a failing timber retaining wall was replaced with concrete barriers. He said the county and community partners used high-quality materials and that the finished site is being reseeded and irrigated so grass can return. "It looks great and super happy with the way that turned out," Zoller said. A committee member added they had received phone calls praising the improvements.
The committee encouraged residents to visit and noted maintenance crews and local volunteer groups — including the Lions Club — supported the beach work.
Ending: Both completed projects were presented as finished maintenance and amenity upgrades; the county said ongoing seeding and maintenance work will continue to restore landscape areas.
