Representatives of the Edmonds Daybreakers Rotary presented a donation to the Edmonds School District and described funds raised by the Edmonds Jazz Connection, the group’s annual fundraising event.
Tim Osborne introduced members of the Edmonds Daybreakers Rotary who described the festival and the group’s support for district music programs. Rotary representatives said this year they awarded five scholarships of $2,500 each to Edmonds School District music students, distributed more than $800 to the district’s three music booster clubs, and provided $4,500 so three Mountlake Terrace students could attend the Essentially Ellington contest in New York.
Speakers said the Jazz Connection has run about 23 years (with a gap for the pandemic), raises ticket revenue and sponsorships, and that the club spent roughly $60,000 to stage the event this year. Representatives said they contributed more than $28,000 this year directly to student musicians and music programs and presented a check for districtwide music enrichment.
Board members thanked the Rotary for supporting students and the district. The presentation included a group photo and brief remarks; no formal board action was required or recorded.
Why it matters: district music programs and individual students received scholarships and program support from a long‑running community fundraising event, and board members publicly acknowledged the contribution.
What the transcript shows and does not show: the transcript lists scholarship amounts and booster club distributions and notes a district donation; it does not include the name of a charitable account, a formal grant agreement, or a detailed itemization of the check.
