The Brentwood Select Board approved a slate of volunteer appointments and reappointments during its July 15 meeting, confirming candidates for the Conservation Commission, Recreation Commission, Cemetery Trustees and Library Trustees.
The Conservation Commission slate approved two full three-year appointments (Heather Dudley Tappman and Jeff Dvorak), one one-year term for Becky (Rebecca) Dunham and an alternate position filled by Christopher Nipp. The board’s liaison reported that Becky Dunham asked for a one-year term because of travel commitments and that Rob Wolfchuck will assume the Open Space Committee liaison role referenced by the Conservation Commission.
For cemetery trustees the board approved Caleb Labe (continuing as an alternate) and Elaine Lynch (approved as a new alternate), both for one-year terms; the town liaison reported both have participated in commission work. The Recreation Commission recommended two three-year full-member appointments (Julie Valovis, listed as current chair, and Joseph Tamick) and two one-year alternate appointments (Laura Hajar and Joanne Phillips); the board approved the slate and noted the commission added an additional alternate position to accommodate all four applicants.
The board also reappointed Michelle Sidewit as a voting member to the Regional Association and reappointed Don Hanick as an alternate. The Library Trustees’ board recommended the reappointment of two alternates, Jen Bordis and Susan Lunn, to one-year alternate terms and the Select Board approved those reappointments.
Several board members asked that future committee and commission appointments be placed on the published agenda so applicants and the public have formal notice. There were no recorded votes against the appointment motions in the meeting record.
The appointments are administrative actions that fill vacancies and align volunteer capacity with ongoing town commissions; terms vary by committee and were announced during the meeting.
