Treasurer Ocasio reviewed the ordinance appropriating funds for fiscal year 2025–26 and explained the difference between the budget and the appropriation. He thanked aldermen and department heads who worked on the document and described new or expanded software needs the appropriation would cover.
Ocasio said the city has been using a GoGov application for service requests and permits; department heads find the system useful for tracking complaints, field service work and permitting workflows. Staff described new permitting modules and back-end functions that require budgeted funding. The treasurer said the appropriation allows the city to spend within authorized limits if money is available.
Council members who serve on the budget committee had reviewed the draft and supported placing the ordinance on the regular agenda for formal consideration and potential adoption.
