Escambia board confirms personnel moves, introduces interim Tate assistant principal and new IB coordinator; names director of internal audit

The Escambia County School Board used its July 2025 meeting to introduce and confirm several administrative appointments. The board introduced Greg Blackman, currently athletic director at Tate High School, who will serve as interim assistant principal at Tate; the full board had previously approved his appointment and members welcomed him to the podium.

Greg Blackman told the board he is "honored to serve as interim assistant principal at Tate" and noted he has worked in the district for more than three decades. The board also welcomed Holly Shumpert, who the superintendent said had been approved previously and was introduced in person as the new International Baccalaureate coordinator at Pensacola High School. Shumpert described her background in Title I work and said she was "grateful for the opportunity to serve our students and families and work alongside the outstanding faculty at Pensacola High School to lead the IB program."

Separately, the board appointed Miss Lane as director of internal audit and received brief remarks. Lane said the role is not solely about oversight but about "building trust, driving improvement and helping our district operate more efficiently and ethically." The appointment to the internal-audit position was approved by the board on a recorded vote.

Each appointment introduced or approved at the meeting was presented as an administrative item; recorded votes where noted carried, and the board had no additional amendments or conditions recorded at the time the appointees spoke. The superintendent and board members praised the appointees and thanked them for their service.

The board did not record operational timelines for transitions, such as the start date for interim duties at Tate or a timeline for internal-audit work, during the meeting.
