Steele County hires Bartlett & West for courthouse architectural assessment and 3-D modeling

The Steele County Board of Commissioners on June 3 approved Bartlett & West to provide architectural services for the county courthouse.
County staff and a selection panel had interviewed four firms and recommended Bartlett & West, the commissioners were told. The firm proposed producing a digital 3-D model of the courthouse (a measured tour), which county staff said would improve the accuracy of future bids and preservation planning; the firm also will submit a scope and cost for architectural services and a multi-year plan that prioritizes repairs.
Commissioners approved the selection by voice vote and asked staff to return quotes for the firm’s proposed services, with an expectation that substantial work planning would take place over the coming year and into next summer. The board emphasized it expects prioritized, phased recommendations because the county will fund repairs over multiple years rather than as a single large project.
Staff will request cost proposals from Bartlett & West and report estimated timelines and budget implications at a future meeting.
