County roads update: County Road 11 reopens; paving planned for Aug. 20; chip-seal issues addressed

Williams County public works staff updated the Board of County Commissioners on July 15 on several road projects across the county. County Road 11 has reopened after installation of a box culvert and associated dirt work; staff said approximately 90% of the dirt work was expected to be done that week, weather permitting.
Staff reported paving on County Road 11 was tentatively scheduled to begin Aug. 20. Two miles of paving were also planned on County Road 12, and work on County 11A and County 42 was progressing. The county temporarily closed the road segment from County 9 to County 11 to install two deep culverts; staff anticipated reopening that stretch by the end of the week, weather permitting.
County Road 17A was reported complete with a small number of signs still to install and striping (stop bars) remaining. The county also reported chip-seal maintenance work had experienced some "bleeding" where oil rose through the surface during hot weather; crews used sand trucks to control affected spots during high temperatures, and striping work remained to be finished.
Staff said they will return to the commission with another report in two weeks and will continue to monitor weather and scheduling constraints.
