"What safety is all about is dealing with the people that are in the building," Kinney said in brief remarks to the board, adding that he has focused on relationships with families and school communities.
Board discussion and vote: Board members asked whether the position was budgeted and whether it was grant‑funded; district staff confirmed it was included in the adopted budget and tied to the Alliance priority schools grant. Staff also told the board that a separate student‑facing position (Angela King) had been cut during recent central‑office reductions and that Jonathan’s promotion absorbed some duties previously handled by that role.
