Washington County finance committee members approved a three-year contract extension with the county’s external auditor group on June 24, accepting a modest annual increase and citing continuity and the firm’s off-site document workflow as cost-saving measures.
The county’s finance lead requested a waiver from procurement rules to accept a three-year extension at a 3% increase per year. The proposed fees are $52,000 for 2025, $53,050 for 2026 and $55,000 for 2027. Staff said the auditing firm keeps much of its preparatory work off-site through secure file uploads, reducing on-site staffing time and travel costs.
The motion to accept the extension passed by voice vote. Committee members asked for and were told the auditor would provide billable-hour rates and staff-level allocations on request. Staff said the extension avoids a full reprocurement and helps limit staff time required for on-site audit work.
