The Warren County Health Services Committee voted to submit an application to New York Connects, the New York State Office for the Aging, for a grant in the amount of $224,678 and authorized staff to execute any resulting grant agreement.
Administrator Taftlin told the committee, "Basically, this is a request to sub submit a request to New York Connects, New York State Office for the Aging NYSOCA for a grant in the amount of $224,678. There are there is no local share or match required for this grant, and it's 100% funded by the state, New York Connects." Supervisor Runyon moved the motion to bring the application to the floor, and Supervisor Branson Gilligan seconded. After no questions, the chair called the question and members responded "Aye," approving the submission.
Committee members also discussed related senior‑service activities. President Driscoll told the committee that the county received an email from the Office for the Aging about farmers markets and the office's outreach for its farmers‑market coupon program. "Those coupons, I think it's a $25 booklet, are available to income eligible, senior citizens, throughout the County," Driscoll said, and urged supervisors to share the notice with local food pantries and senior organizations.
Members noted a separate, informational item: three county representatives are scheduled to attend a conference on aging July 23–25; no additional authorization or expense details were provided in the discussion. The committee approved the previous meeting minutes at the start of the session and later adjourned on a motion by Supervisor Runyon with Supervisor Wilde seconding.
The application approved by the committee may return with a different award amount or additional requirements if the state alters the grant when it issues an agreement; the committee authorized staff to submit the application and to execute any resulting grant agreement as returned by the state.
