Borough counsel and the solicitor clarified that the draft language prevents a retail establishment from selling those animals directly as part of its ordinary inventory; a licensed breeder may still appear to sell animals in a store setting under limited conditions (the solicitor said a breeder could sell at an event), but the store itself could not be a regular retail outlet for those pets.
Council members confirmed the ordinance text fits within existing Chapter 37 and directed that a formal public hearing be held at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 20. The motion to schedule the hearing passed by council vote.
