Workforce staff Liza said the BOCES contract follows the school‑year schedule and comes from federal funds; she reported recent GED completions and that two participants were testing the week of the meeting. The committee voted to approve the agreement on a voice vote.
Staff also reported the summer youth employment program will begin orientation next week. Liza said the program typically places about 35 youth but anticipates about 25 this summer, citing family instability and crisis as a factor. The program includes municipal, private sector and nonprofit worksites and a summer job coach to support youth with disabilities.
On county funding, staff said Warren County provides an annual $100,000 allocation for workforce development. Planning and workforce staff asked to transfer portions of that allocation to cover summer intern wages and other part‑time salary lines; the committee approved the requested intra‑departmental transfers. Staff also asked to create a staff development reserve to hold any remaining funds from the annual allocation across fiscal years so the money can be used for county employee training; the committee approved the reserve and staff said about $10,000 remained from 2024 as an example of funds that could be carried forward.
The committee reappointed Elizabeth Miller to the Saratoga‑Warren‑Washington Workforce Development Board for a three‑year term, and approved the TANF budget amendment to support the summer youth employment program.
