Board follows up on missing museum plaque and painting relocation; cultural center sign moving forward

Board members reported work to locate a long-missing sign for the Children's Schoolhouse Museum and to arrange relocation of a large painting to the women's club; the board also heard an update on a cultural center monument sign that staff say is awaiting a purchase order. Staff told the board that they contacted the museum's executive director, Miriam Duranjo, about a missing museum plaque and a doll. One board member said the large historic sign was last seen at the public works garage area and suggested checking with Andrew Mack in public works for its location. In public comment, resident Susan Oyer said she and others had contacted the painter's daughter about relocating a painting and that the daughter "is in support of moving the painting to the women's club." Oyer said the women's club are enthusiastic about receiving the painting and that the group could help with moving and rehanging the work. On the cultural center monument sign, staff reported they had heard from Craig Clark and that the project is awaiting a PO number; once the purchase order is issued, staff said they will contact a vendor and proceed to installation. Board members asked to be consulted on the wording for the sign so the historical information is accurate. No formal vote was taken on the plaque, doll or painting relocation; items were presented as updates and staff commitments to follow up. Staff will contact public works, the museum and vendor contacts and will report back to the board with status updates and draft sign wording for review.
